The sound of the sea

Today started off very calm the forecast was for an increasing easterly wind later in the afternoon.
It was a very soft morning, beautiful and peaceful.
 We stopped for lunch
We listened to an incessant Cuckoo :(
 and an owl :)
We decided to head off back to avoid a head wind forecast for later in the day.
But the wind had already picked up quite strongly and the sea was fairly choppy :0
The waves were breaking over our boats and we were heads down PLF to get back it was
 exhilarating.
By the time we had packed the boats on the van the wind had dropped again and all was quite and still!
The evening was beautiful and tranquil.

Sunshine on Loch Linnhe

We  could not believe the weather, earlier in the week it had been cold windy and snowing.
And now it is warm calm and sunny :)
Loads of inquisitive seals following us and splashing about, just missed photographing this one !
Eileen Gainimh not sure if this would this be second breakfast or first lunch?.  Will have to ask the two Sea Kayaking gods for clarification.
Unusual seaweed not sure what it is called

Evening light looking west to Mull end to a perfect day

Balmacara Gardens

The Gardens at Balmacara are a beautiful, tranquil, calming and peaceful place to visit.
We have visited many times usually when the weather is too wet and windy for outdoor activities.
There are many small hidden bays and places to sit and watch and listen
Unfortunately the NTS no longer maintain the gardens due to cost, and this little garden with the sundial is beginning to get quite overgrown.
We have always enjoyed sitting in this little garden where you can hear the sea and the birds and occasionally spot an otter its really very tranquil.
The sundial was put there in memory of a couple who met and married during WW2 and the garden planted in their memory.
It is a lovely place but so sad that the garden is now becoming so over grown.
