Craignure to Oban Day 14

We arrive early in Oban but we were still able to get a breakfast at 07.15.
This is a photo of my bike with all of the kit I carried for 14 days.
We both managed to get all our kit into 2 pannier bags.
They contained a sleeping bag a Thermarest, spare clothes, bike repair kit, pump, spare inner tubes. A small amount of food, cooking gear and M carried the tent and a light weight stove.
IPhone and a camera.
Our philosophy is travel light travel far.
We both took a Kindle each AND we didn't use them at all !!!
We had no mechanical problems or punctures
We drove along to Ganavan Sands for a little potter before the long drive home :(
We have had an amazing, enjoyable, challenging suffafest
Time to start planning the next trip
Happy Days :)

Tobermory To Craignure Day 13 And its raining again !!!!!!!!!!

 Absolutely lashing down !!!!
We stopped in a lovely cafe in Salan and had 2 mugs of coffee each and some Lemon Drizzle cake Very nice !!!!
When we got up to leave there was a puddle on the floor from all our wet gear :(
As we arrived in Craignure the sun came out and it was lovely afternoon and evening
Today was the CalMac ferry strike
Although the campsite was not busy some other campers chatted on all night !!! so at 05:30 M woke me. We took down the tent and packed the gear away then cycled to the ferry terminal to catch the 06:30 ferry. We were amazed to see so many folk waiting to catch the early ferry. Including a couple of cyclists.

Sonachan Hote, Ardnamurchan Lighthouse to Tobermory Day 12

We cycled out to Ardnamurchan lighthouse where we had a lovely coffee and a trip up the lighthouse
Just as well they have a card reader !!!!

Although we could see Mull, Coll, Tiree, Muck, Eigg, Rum and Skye we unfortunatley could not see the Western Isles
Then we cycled back to Kilchoan to catch the ferry to Tobermory

From the B&B in Tobermory this dear watched us for ages !!!

Acharacle to Kilchoan Day 11

A still and slightly damp morning but it was beautiful
Cycling along the side of Loch Sunart was a little bit more painful than I imagined. Lots of steep ups and then more ups and then more ups !!
And then I mashed my gears and didn't get my feet out of the clips in time and I was off landing on my right knee !!!!!!! OUTCH and a big purple bruise on me bum !!!!!
Fantastic views the rain has stopped cloud has lifted a little
A great view looking along the length of Loch Sunart.
 Sore Knee :(
Down hill at last and a view to Eigg
Ben Hiant from the west and it is raining again :)

We now only had £20 between us and we hoped to get some cash in Kilchoan
Kilchoan needs to get a cash machine and not rely on the Post Office.
We didn't get any cash until the following day in Tobermory !!!

Sunnycroft to Acharacle Day 10

Our intention was to cycle through to Resipole camp site and decide on where to go after that. The CalMac ferry stick was imminent and we had a cash flow issue, we had forgotten to get cash at Malaig when we resupplied.
Eigg and Rum it was amazing to view these islands now almost from the south !
The climate was changing all of the time it was now milder, less harsh, more trees and greener softer than Lewis.
We had Kayaked around this area last year setting off from Castle Tioram and around Eilean Shona.
We had lunch at The Glenuig Hotel
We stopped at the wee shop in Acharacle for some money.
Cash machine out of order !!!
The M suddenly and totally out of the blue decided we should stop for the day and stay at The LochSheil Hotel so we did !!!
The hotel is lovely our room had a four poster bed, fantastic views, the folk were lovely, it was just luxury

Portree to SunnyCroft Arisaig Day 9

I love Skye, mountains sea and adventure. I first visited Skye in 1982 I walked down Glen Sligachan in awe. I have been back every year since. This is my second visit in 2015.
Its a while since the last time we cycled along this road a loop from Sconser to Loch Ainort. A lot of the road has now lost the top layer of tarmac its almost an off road route!!!!. It has some great views.

Looking into Garbh Bheinn

And back the way we came. Thift on the sea shore

A stop at the Old Pier Bakery....... cake !!!

From Loch na Dal to Ben Sgritheall and Ladhar Bheinn

Heading into Armadale for a cup of tea a look around Grumpy George and the ferry to Malaig.

We watched 3 sea kayakers heading back into the bay we had spotted them earlier further up the coast.

First view of Rhum/Rum and egg since The Uists looking east !!!

SunnyCroft campsite near Arisaig lovely little site that has just opened very clean and has a kettle Hooray !!!

Ragged Robin

So after some nagging I persuaded M to come for a walk on the beach and it was amazing :)

Our little tent

Uig to Portree Day 8

Uig campsite has a lot of potential the actual grass area for camping is very nice and we spotted this baby robin demanding food from its parent just next to our tent.
But the toilet block was scruffy and we chose not to use the shower facilities. Someone was doing their washing up in the sinks in the ladies toilets?. There was dog poo all around the campsite house.
The weather is lovely!! I will say that again the weather is lovely!!!. still a bit cool but a vast improvement Happy days :)
 Sun shine :)
 Rivers very full and fast
View to the Hills of Harris at last and just before they disappear from view haha
Just a short day to Portree for some B & B we hope
